Waygate Technologies presents next generation Phoenix V|tome|x S X-ray inspection & CT system at productronica

WUNSTORF, Germany, 20 September 2021. Waygate Technologies, a Baker Hughes business and world leader in nondestructive testing (NDT), will present its innovative micro- & nanofocus X-ray and CT inspection solutions for the electronics and battery industries at productronica in Munich, Germany. A major highlight on its stand 415 in hall A2 will be the next generation of its versatile industrial 2D radiography and 3D CT system Phoenix V|tome|x S, making quality control and production processes much more efficient.

While maintaining its industry-proven, optional combination of both, a nanofocus and microfocus X-ray tube, the new V|tome|x S is equipped with the Dynamic 41|200p+ detector technology. This allows for higher resolution and image quality at much faster scan times. The new DXR S100 Pro option comes even with 100 µm pixel size for detection of smallest defects. The revised, more spacious cabin design further increases efficiency of use with easy sample loading and servicing.

With its proven Dual|tube technology, the V|tome|x S can automatically switch between a 180 kV/20 W high-power nanofocus X-ray tube and a 240 kV/320 W microfocus X-ray tube within a few minutes. This range allows the system to cover inspection challenges from extreme high-resolution nanoCT® scans of low absorbing materials with a detail detectability of up to 200 nanometers to 3D microCT analysis of high absorbing objects up to 400 mm in diameter, making it a valuable asset for the electronics and automotive industries as well as in R&D and scientific applications. The CT system also comes standard with an additional tilt axis, also enabling flexible 2D X-ray inspection. The system also comes with advanced X|act NDT 2D inspection software. Combined with Waygate Technologies exclusive Flash! Electronics image optimization software it includes a great bundle of tools for highly relible BGA inspection and Voiding Calculation as well as easy defect recognition.

The Phoenix V|tome|x S is equipped with an advanced, highly intuitive CT scanning software for fully automated data acquisition and volume processing. In production mode, the entire CT scanning and evaluation process chain can be initiated with the press of a button and 3D failure analysis or 3D metrology tasks will be executed automatically.

Besides the new V|tome|x S, Waygate Technologies also showcases its premium performance micro- and nanofocus AXI systems Phoenix Microme|x neo and Nanome|x neo for fully automated defect detection in PCBAs and electronic components.
